Dear alumni,
On behalf of the UP High School Cebu faculty and staff, I extend our sincere appreciation for your overwhelming support and concern for your alma mater.
Our UP President, Pres. Emerlinda Roman has given her definite assurance that there is no plan to abolish the high school. This is very good news for all of us.
What we are facing is the directive from the UPV Cebu College to reduce the enrollment to one section effective June, 2008. This means that from the hundreds of promising young students applying for admission, hoping to avail of a UP education, only 35 will be given the opportunity.
We are celebrating the centennial of the UP System, a hundred years of service to the nation. Retaining the status quo is our way of serving the nation.
UPV Chancellor Glenn Aguilar has granted our request for consultation regarding the directive. Hopefully, issues concerning the downsizing will be clarified and the high school will retain its current set-up. We will keep you updated.
We look forward to the UP High School Cebu reunion in July. We hope to see you there.
Sincerely yours,
PURITA T. BALTAZAR
