The following UPCHS students also won in local competitions:
· Jeraline Gumalal, 2nd place in the Editorial Cartooning (Filipino) contest held at the Cebu City Division Schools Press Conference held last November 2007;
· Mariz Ehmele Pino, 3rd place in Editorial Writing (Filipino) contest held at the Cebu City Division Schools Press Conference held lastNovember 2007;
· Liezl Sumagaysay, 1st place in the Chemblitz competition, an inter-school chemistry quiz held last November 2007;
· Mary Issandra Flores, Highest Single Move award at the Philippine Scrabble Open Cebu Leg held last October 2007;
· Chelzee Salera, 3rd Best Alternate in Chess (Girls Division) in the Milo Little Olympics held last September 2007;
· Chinee Antido, 2nd place in the 4th Annual Inter-Secondary School Oratorical Contest sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cebu Mabolo and held last September 2007;
· Leslie Adolfo, 1st place in the Inter School Bangga sa Kinaadman 2007—a quiz bowl sponsored by the Cebu City Youth Development Commission held last July 2007;
· Virgianie Oyao, 1st place in both modern standard and Latin dances competition (Youth-A division) of the 2007 DanceSport Council of the Philippines National Mid-year Rankings and Competition held in Manila last July 2007; and
· Joseph Ammil Descalzota, Marc Antonio Quimbo, and Eldon Kent Sato—1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, respectively, in the on-the-spot website development contest of the Cebu ICT 2007 7th Cebu Web Awards held last June 2007.
· Ranyah Dawn Dablo, won as Region VII's champion during the 15th Philippine Statistics Quiz's regional round.The National Statistics Office and the Philippine Statistical Association also gave recognition to UP CebuHigh Schoollast December, 2006, for "providing strong and solid foundation in the areas of mathematics and statistics" after Ranyah's success.
· Michael Angelo Joaquin won the regional championship round andrepresented Region VII at the national-level competition last year in the same quiz.
· Michelle Gudito won 3rd place in the same quiz and was also chosenas one of the Ten Most Outstanding High School Students of Cebu 2007—a joint project of the Department of Education, Rhine Marketing Corporation, and Kiwanis Club of Cebu. |
